Seasonal Celebration Sunday #19

Welcome to The Seasonal Celebration Linky Party!

"Seasonal Celebration"

The Queen will celebrate her 60-year reign today, in freezing winds and rain, colder than on Christmas Day.

However the British are a weather-hardened lot, and won’t let a dismal day dampen patriotic spirits- so we’ll be donning raincoats, pushing up our brollies and heading outside; whether it be to one of the 10,000 street parties being held across the Nation or to the Thames Pageant where  a 1000-strong flotilla will float their way past London’s historic landmarks and a million watchers-on.

It doesn’t really matter where you stand on the monarchy really, events like this just revive the memory of us being part of a big tribe. And who could argue with that?

Slice of Diamond Jubilee Cake anyone?

  5. A friend of mine just came to my office the other day, showing me pictures from the Queen’s celebration. Even if the monarchy idea doesn’t touch us a bit, the celebrations were a unique event and now I feel sorry I didn’t go to London, since I am in Europe right now.
